ACLU R.I.: SUES WARWICK CITY COUNCIL OVER CENSORING OF PUBLIC COMMENT SPEAKER
PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island, Aug. 29 -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island issued the following news on Aug. 28, 2023:
ACLU of RI cooperating attorneys have today filed a federal lawsuit against the Warwick City Council for stifling the free speech rights of a local resident who was barred last month from speaking at a Council meeting about allegations of ethical misconduct aimed at one of its members. CAIR Condemns Distribution of White Supremacist Flyers in Rhode Island
WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations issued the following news release on Aug. 31, 2023:
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the distribution of white supremacist flyers in Scituate, R.I.
Flyers promoting white supremacist groups were distributed to homes and public places in Scituate several times this month. Police are investigating the incidents.
