Winsome Earle-Sears: "This is life happening"
A new report from WTOP details the latest example of Winsome Earle-Sears' defending Donald Trump's attacks on Virginia's workforce and economy that have put thousands of Virginians at risk of losing their jobs.
When asked about the federal layoffs that are jeopardizing the jobs and livelihoods of thousands of Virginians instead of offering resources or supportto Virginians, Sears gave them this helpful advice: "Do not fret."
The comments follow her downplaying Virginia job losses to former Trump Co-Chair John Fredericks, saying that "this is life happening" and are the latest in Sears' ongoing defense of Trump's attacks on Virginia's workforce and economy.
Winsome Earle-Sears' Greatest Hits Dismissing Virginia's Federal Workers:
WTOP: In WTOP exclusive, candidates in Va. governor's race sound off on federal cuts
* Sears: Do not fret.
* Sears: Don't worry.
The John Fredericks Show
* Winsome Earle-Sears: How many of you have ever lost the job? Raise your hands. I'm raising my hand. I have. Exactly, just about everybody has lost a job.
* Sears: This is life happening. It is life happening. Nothing in this life is guaranteed, well the only thing they say is death and taxes, those are guaranteed.
Winsome Earle-Sears has defended Trump's attacks on Virginia's workforce and economy.
* She told the Associated Press that she backed Trump's efforts and she doubled down.
* She also said Virginians facing layoffs will "be all right."
* The Youngkin-Sears administration's response to workers at risk of losing their jobs was "update your resume."
* As Donald Trump attacked Virginia's workforce and economy, Sears declared she would help Trump "get the job done" if she were governor.
* Sears has also said "I'm supporting what the President is doing."
The few resources Sears offered to help Virginians ended up being broken links that led to "404 Page Not Found" website errors.

Roy Cooper spurns North Carolina for Harvard's Ivory Tower
North Carolina's former Governor, Roy Cooper, is "teaching" a class at Harvard starting tomorrow while making Chuck Schumer and out of touch Washington Democrats beg him to run for U.S. Senate.
Spending time at Harvard is certainly a choice. If you're Cooper, though, maybe it's better than getting questioned about why families in Eastern North Carolina never had their homes rebuilt during your entire tenure as Governor?Or answering questions about your Hurricane Helene response?
Apparently, cashing in after a 40-year career in government means accepting a paycheck from a university rife with antisemitic activity.
This isn't who North Carolinians want to be their U.S. Senator.
"When North Carolinians needed Roy Cooper to step up and defend them, he failed. He failed to stop violent crime and mobs from burning cities in 2020. He failed women in our state allowing our rape kit backlog to be the largest in the nation. And, he failed families across our state who wanted their homes rebuilt after natural disasters. Now, Cooper is jetting off to Massachusetts for a paycheck to rebrand his failures as 'leadership.' Good riddance because North Carolina is done letting Roy Cooper fail our state," said NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer.

Helena, MT-- In a new column, Montana Democratic Party Interim Executive Director Justin Ailport slams President Trump and Elon Musk's push to shut down the Department of Education and highlights the dire consequences thatwill be felt in Montana.
Ailport criticizes Montana's congressional delegation's blind support for Trump and Musk's reckless slashes, cuts and firings and warns Republican leaders they cannot continue to hide in Washington, DC from frustrated constituents at home in Montana.

Lee Newspapers: Protests are about to get even bigger
March 22, 2025
Justin Ailport, Interim Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party
Protests and rallies have become commonplace in Montana and across the country- and rightly so. These days, any given week, you'll see news of folks protesting against the Trump Administration and Elon Musk's latest rounds of government cuts, firings, and threats to critical government programs. Mark my words, these protests and rallies are about to get even bigger and louder.
This week, the White House announced President Donald Trump plans to sign an executive order calling for the shutdown of the Department of Education. This comes a few weeks after Trump and Musk's DOGE slashed the department in half, dismissing around 1,300 federal employees. The alarms were already sounding, and now it's code red.
Here's what's at stake.
Plain and simple: the impacts on low-income and vulnerable students will be grave. The Department of Education funds Title I (or schools with students from low-income areas), special education, and Pell Grants (financial assistance for low-income college students). Cutting the Department of Education will reduce access to resources for these students and create a divide in equal education opportunities across the country.
Budget cuts and the dismantling of the Department of Education will also cut funding for teacher training, recruitment, and professional development. Montana already has a serious teacher shortage problem and is struggling to keep our educators in the system thanks to low teacher salaries. Test scores in Montana are still lower than pre-pandemic levels and a handful of schools are on the brink of closure.
Do we really think cutting resources is the answer to our problems? During the 2021-2022 school year, about 21% of Montana's public school funding came from the federal government. So how will Montana fill this funding gap in the future? And who the heck in this state will be administering federal programs? Certainly, not Montana's Office of Public Instruction that got caught last year misspending $67 million in federal funding.
Additionally, the Department of Education administers financial aid and grant programs for students seeking higher education. Cutting the Department of Education would make college less affordable and less accessible for students unless they decide to take on additional debt. The economic impacts of this could lead to a weak, less competitive future workforce putting our country at a disadvantage on a global scale.
Parents, educators, and people across Montana know these cuts pose an existential threat to public education and the future of this country. Meanwhile, Senator Daines, Senator Sheehy, Congressman Zinke, and Congressman Downing are cheering on the Trump administration like a bunch of brainless frat bros watching a kegstand.
The protests and rallies have only just started and Montana's congressional delegation is already feeling the heat.
Montanans will rise, unite, and fight back like never before.

"Sloppy, Careless, Incompetent": Trump's Top Advisers are Flailing After Massive National Security Breach
After Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth exposed critical military operation details and threatened our national security, Donald Trump's top advisers are flailing everywhere, from Fox News to committee hearings. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard dodged questions under oath about what country she was in during this unauthorized group chat. Hegseth said "nobody is texting war plans"after literally texting plans to a reporter. And even Republicans are "angered" by Trump's incompetent advisers risking active-duty servicemembers' safety.
Here's a look at how Donald Trump's senior advisers continue to embarrass themselves after putting America's national security at risk:
Washington Post: "Senate Democrats on Tuesday hammered the Trump administration's top intelligence officials on how and why the vice president, defense secretary, national security adviser and other top Cabinet members made the 'reckless' decision to use a commercial messaging app to discuss secret war plans for Yemen -- while also inadvertently including a journalist in the group chat. ...
"Gabbard, Ratcliffe and the other government witnesses provided few answers. After Gabbard at first declined to say whether she was involved in the group chat at all, she and Ratcliffe then told senators that the information shared over Signal was not classified. At other times, they denied the details contained in the Atlantic's reporting or said they could not recall the exact contents of the messages. ...
"'Did you know that the president's Middle East adviser was in Moscow on this thread while you were, as director of the CIA, participating in this thread? Were you aware of that?' Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colorado) asked Ratcliffe, referencing special envoy Steve Witkoff and suggesting Russian intelligence could have hacked the chat."
Reuters: "Senior US Republican wants probe into Signal chat on Houthi attack"
"A powerful U.S. Senate Republican called on Wednesday for an official probe of Trump administration officials' discussion of sensitive attack plans on a commercial messaging app, after critics argued that U.S. troops could have died if the information had fallen into the wrong hands.
"Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told reporters he and Senator Jack Reed, the panel's top Democrat, would ask President Donald Trump's administration to expedite an Inspector General report and provide a classified briefing."
New York Times: "Jeffries Calls on Trump to Fire Hegseth"
"'Pete Hegseth is the most unqualified secretary of defense in American history,' Mr. Jeffries wrote in a letter sent to Mr. Trump at the White House, which was obtained by The New York Times. 'His continued presence in the top position of leadership at the Pentagon threatens the nation's security and puts our brave men and women in uniform throughout the world in danger.'"
Newsweek: "Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin said in a statement that Hegseth and the other members of the group chat 'put on a stunning display of recklessness and disregard for our national security.'
"'Hegseth should resign, and if he doesn't resign, he should be fired,' he continued."
NBC News: "A contentious Senate hearing Tuesday raised questions about how Trump administration officials handle sensitive national security information and communications, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's decision to share details of a planned U.S. military operation in a group chat. ...
"Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., a retired Air Force general, scoffed at Hegseth's assertion that no war plans had been shared on the text chain.
"'That's baloney,' Bacon told reporters. 'Just be honest and own up to it.'
"More significantly, Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., the chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said he would investigate the text chain with his Democratic colleagues on the panel.
"'We're very concerned about it and we'll be looking into it on a bipartisan basis,' Wicker told reporters."
NPR: "During the Senate hearing, Warner described the actions of the nation's top intelligence officials as 'sloppy, careless, incompetent behavior.'
"'If this was the case of a military officer or an intelligence officer and they had this kind of behavior, they would be fired,' he said."
CBS News: "Gabbard and Ratcliffe continued to insist that no classified information was sent in the group chat, baffling Democrats who cited executive orders and internal government guidance to argue that the operational details should have been considered highly classified.
"Shortly before the hearing began, The Atlantic published additional messages showing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth provided detailed information to the group of senior Trump officials about the strikes targeting Houthi rebels earlier this month, including a timeline of when fighter jets would take off and what kind of weapons would be used. ...
"At Wednesday's hearing, Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut, the top Democrat on the committee, chastised the intelligence leaders at the start of the hearing, saying they put the lives of troops at risk."

More Personal Attacks and Name Calling in New Jersey's GOP Primary
As Spadea accuses Ciattarelli of being an "opportunist," Jack fires back: "Bill's initials are B.S. for a reason."
Every day that brings us closer to New Jersey's June 10 primary is a day that sees the Garden State's GOP gubernatorial candidates sinking deeper into a messy battle of the extremists. That's been especially true this week, as two-time failed gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli and former talk radio host Bill Spadeahave been at each other's throats on a daily basis to win Trump's endorsement.
Ashley Koning, director of Rutgers University's Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling, highlighted how Ciattarelli's and Spadea's focus on Trump above all else could be a problem down the line. To the New Jersey Monitor she said: "It may be a more narrow focus on winning the primary because they think right now Trump would be a benefit to their campaign. In a couple months from now, it could be an entirely different story."
Read more from the New Jersey Monitor on Republicans' increasingly hostile MAGA primary:
* "When you've got a Republican who's willing to spend eight years attacking Donald Trump, writing checks as recently as this last primary in 2024 to Chris Christie, and then to turn around and pretend now that he's pro-Trump, you've got a guy that is willing to say anything for a vote," Spadea said. "And you can't trust somebody who will do that."
* Spadea and Ciattarelli, a former assemblyman, are sparring this year for the allegiance of Trump supporters and racing to prove their MAGA bona fides in a state where the GOP hopes it can bounce back after losing two gubernatorial races in a row.
* The fight over Trump's base -- and potentially the president's endorsement -- was evident last week when Ciattarelli posted pictures on social media of him standing next to a grinning Trump at the president's Bedminster country club. The following day, according to the New Jersey Globe, Spadea met with Trump there.
* Ashley Koning, director of Rutgers University's Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling, said it's obvious both men would love to win the votes of Trump supporters -- but there's a "big question mark" about whether their pitch to appeal to them could hurt in November's general election, when one of them could be facing one of six Democrats hoping to succeed a term-limited Gov. Phil Murphy.
* "It may be a more narrow focus on winning the primary because they think right now Trump would be a benefit to their campaign. In a couple months from now, it could be an entirely different story," Koning said.
* [Ciattarelli] has embraced Trump in recent months after criticizing him in 2016 and 2020. Spadea, meanwhile, has made a name for himself as a conservative firebrand after hosting a radio show on New Jersey 101.5 for nearly a decade.
* Another Republican hoping to become our next governor is Mario Kranjac, a former Englewood Cliffs mayor who brands himself as a "forever Trumper." Kranjac in an interview said he -- not Spadea, not Ciattarelli -- is the Republican candidate most aligned with Trump, pointing to his record as a mayor and a business owner.
* "[Ciattarelli and Spadea] have to poll, and put their finger up in the wind to figure out what they believe in. I've always had fixed values and fixed beliefs," he said. "I don't need to have other people influence where I stand."
* Spadea -- who, like Ciattarelli, has criticized Trump in the past, calling his first administration a failure -- told the New Jersey Monitor that the Republican Party has become a big tent now that "the politics caught up with our principles." But Ciattarelli's late-game shift shows he's an "opportunist," Spadea said.
* "It's going to hurt [Ciattarelli] because it just shows he's a typical politician who will just say anything for a vote," Spadea said. "And I think he's exposed himself because people aren't buying it."
* When asked about Spadea's jabs at Ciattarelli's slow support for Trump, Ciattarelli replied, "Bill's initials are B.S. for a reason."

"We don't need you to be kissing this administration's butt" Fedorchak fawns over Trump at so-called telephone town hall to North Dakotans' chagrin
FARGO ND - On Tuesday evening, Representative Julie Fedorchak hosted a "telephone town hall." Fedorchak said that Trump may come to North Dakota remarking, "He pledged he would think about doing that."
North Dakota DNC Committeeman Jamie Selzler said, "I appreciate that Representative Fedorchak took my call to kick off her tele-townhall tonight. I respect that she was willing to take tough questions and didn't handpick callers. That said, I asked her about unelected Elon Musk diving into Medicaid and Social Security in order to cut and kill these critical programs. I asked her to speak up to defend entitlements against attack, and she refused to do so. We are months away from Social Security checks being missed, and from rural clinics closing. Medicaid is about to be slashed by Elon Musk and Donald Trump, which will hurt tens of thousands of North Dakotans who rely on it for healthcare and assisted living support. Julie Fedorchak remains silent on this, and as a Member of Congress is abdicating her responsibility to provide oversight of the administration and to defend the people she's supposed to represent."
North Dakota Democratic-NPL Communications Director Laura Dronen remarked, "Fedorchak said that Social Security is not being cut. That's just a lie. DOGE is planning to cut phone support for Social Security. We are already seeing longer wait times. The Minot Social Security Office is on a list of offices that are set to close. Trump's Commerce Secretary said no one would 'call and complain' if they miss a Social Security check--they won't even be able to call after Elon guts the phone support.
When asked about Trump's Executive Order to dismantle the Education Department, she seemed completely fine with it even though that will be detrimental to rural schools and disabled students. She refused to call on anyone to resign--let alone be held accountable--after one of the most glaring breaches of national security we've witnessed when a journalist was accidentally included in a group chat about plans to bomb Yemen. Her answers were so vapid and pathetic that it spurred a constituent to say, 'We don't need you to be kissing this administration's butt.'"
