AMS Launches Isaacs Prize for Excellence in Mathematical Writing
PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island, Aug. 22 -- The American Mathematical Society issued the following news release:
In January 2025, the American Mathematical Society will award the first I. Martin Isaacs Prize for Excellence in Mathematical Writing. The prize will honor excellence in writing of a research article published in a primary AMS journal during the past two years.
Nominations for the inaugural Isaacs Prize will be accepted until May 31, 2024. The prize amount is $5,000.

Sievers Begins Term as NCEES President
GREENVILLE, South Carolina, Aug. 22 -- The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying issued the following news release:
Laura Sievers, P.E., began her term as 2023-24 NCEES president at the conclusion of the organization's 102nd annual meeting, held August 15-18 in Boston, Massachusetts.
A resident of LeMars, Iowa, Sievers serves as a member of the Iowa Engineering and Land Surveying Examining Board. She replaces outgoing president Christopher Duhamel, P.E., P.L.S., of Rhode
