RALEIGH, North Carolina, Aug. 22 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina issued the following news release on Aug. 21, 2024:
An armed Lumberton fentanyl trafficker was sentenced today to 150 months in prison. On May 22, 2024, Charlton Townsend, age 29, pled guilty to one count of conspiracy with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and a quantity of cocaine and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Michael Mandel Baldwin, 55, of Alexandria, Virginia, was sentenced today to 27 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release on charges of wire fraud and securities fraud, for orchestrating an $800,000 investment scheme, announced Dena J. A federal inmate pled guilty to possessing Buprenorphine (also referred to as Suboxone) in the Federal Correctional Institution I in Butner, North Carolina "FCI Butner I," and was sentenced to 18 months in prison for the charge.
