OAKLAND, California, Nov. 9 -- Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-California, issued the following news release on Nov. 8, 2024:
To maintain the state's progress in helping to address high levels of crime in the East Bay, Governor Newsom is directing the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to extend its presence in Oakland through the end of the year.
