WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 -- Defending Rights and Dissent issued the following news on Sept. 11, 2024:

On December 4, 1969 the Chicago police burst into the headquarters of the Illinois Black Panther Party. They fired over 100 times, killing the party's charismatic Chairman Fred Hampton and fellow member Mark Curtis. Hampton was shot in bed and a subsequent autopsy showed that he had likely been drugged. The decision to fire first and the drugging of Hamtpon created a powerful inference . . .
