In December 2023, Burlington-South Burlington, Vermont, had the lowest unemployment rate among metropolitan areas, at 1.6 percent. The next lowest rates were in Fargo, North Dakota-Minnesota, and Manhattan, Kansas, 1.7 percent each. El Centro, California, had the highest rate, 18.3 percent.
