Sergiu Gorun went to university in Europe, became a professor in chemistry there, and then came to America as a Romanian immigrant. He arrived in New York from his home in Bucharest as a political refugee from the communist government there. He didn't speak much English at the time. He understood science, just not the words on the entrance exam. He went to graduate school, first to Columbia . . .
