KNOXVILLE, Tennessee, Oct. 21 -- The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee, Francis M. Hamilton III, issued the following news release:
On October 19, 2023, following an eight-day trial in United States District Court, a jury convicted Benjamin Carpenter, age 31, of Knoxville, Tennessee, also known as "Abu Hamza," of attempting to provide material support to ISIS, a foreign terrorist organization, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2339B.
