PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island, June 20 -- Gov. Daniel J. McKee, D-Rhode Island, issued the following news release on June 19, 2023:

Governor Dan McKee today signed legislation (2023-S 0444A, 2023-H 5380A) to establish Juneteenth National Freedom Day as an official state holiday in Rhode Island beginning in 2024.
