WASHINGTON, June 19 -- Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Oregon, ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee that oversees the United Nations, issued the following statement after the hearing on Ambassador Kelly Craft's nomination as Ambassador to the U.N.:
"At a time when climate chaos is the greatest global challenge we face, it's incredibly disturbing that President Trump has nominated a UN Ambassador with deep personal ties to and a financial stake in the coal industry. . . .
