European Commission Joint Research Center: Below-Average Yield Forecasts for Most Crops in the EU
ISPRA, Italy, Aug. 27 (TNSres)-- The European Commission's Joint Research Center issued the following news on Aug. 26, 2024:
According to the August edition of the JRC MARS Bulletin crop monitoring in Europe (https://publications.jrc.ec.europa.eu/repository/handle/JRC136664), yield forecasts at EU level have been revised downwards for almost all crops, due to exceptionally hot conditions in the south and excessive rainfall in the north

OSU's Integrated Pest Management legacy lives on in new team
STILLWATER, Oklahoma, Aug. 27 -- Oklahoma State University issued the following news:
Sorghum producers discovered a new pest in their crops on the Gulf Coast of Texas in the summer of 2013. Less than a year later, the sorghum aphid (known at the time as the sugarcane aphid) decimated Oklahoma sorghum, causing more than a 40% reduction in grain yields and thousands of dollars in economic losses for farmers.
