WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 -- The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Internal Revenue Service issued the following news release on Aug. 9, 2024:
The Internal Revenue Service today announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in four states affected by Hurricane Debby.
Affected taxpayers in South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida and Georgia now have until Feb. 3, 2025, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 -- The U.S. Department of Justice issued the following news release on Aug. 8, 2024:
A former Syrian government official was indicted today in Los Angeles on criminal charges for lying to U.S. immigration authorities about his time running a Syrian prison where prisoners, including political dissidents, were physically mistreated.
