Albeni Falls Dam Spill Gate Removed to Mitigate Flood Risk
SEATTLE, Washington, May 16 -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Seattle District issued the following news release: To sustain current Lake Pend Oreille elevations and mitigate lakeshore flood risk, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' officials removed a spill gate May 14, and reduced powerhouse flows to achieve the desired total outflow. During this operation, powerhouse flows were reduced to regulate the total flow increase to 5,000 cubic feet per second and the gate was removed without incident.   more
