OSU, UNI and UVU Take Home Big 12 Wrestling Yearly Awards
Following historic seasons for their respective programs, NCAA heavyweight champion Wyatt Hendrickson from Oklahoma State, Utah Valley standout Terrell Barraclough and Northern Iowa head coach Doug Schwab headline the Big 12 wrestling award winners.
Big 12 Wrestler of the Year - Oklahoma State's Wyatt Hendrickson
Hendrickson was voted the Big 12 Wrestler of the Year by the league's coaches, becoming the first Cowboy to winthe award since Dean Heil in 2017. The senior claimed the Conference title in the heavyweight division at the Big 12 Championship earlier this month, which propelled Oklahoma State to the team title for the 20th time in program history.
The Newton, Kansas native went on to pull off a historic upset at the NCAA Championships for the first national title of his career. Hendrickson came from behind in the third period with a takedown to defeat Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson from Minnesota.
Hendrickson is also a finalist for the Hodge Trophy, which recognizes the top wrestler in all of NCAA Division I. He capped his collegiate career with an undefeated 27-0 record this season, including nine wins over current or former All-Americans. In the postseason alone, six of Hendrickson's nine matches resulted in a pin. He was named the NCAA Most Dominant Wrestler for the third time in his career, all while facing a 2025 national qualifier in 17 of his 27 matches.
Big 12 Coach of the Year - Northern Iowa's Doug Schwab
Schwab was named Big 12 Coach of the Year after guiding the Panthers to a historic season and was voted NWCA Division I Men's National Coach of the Year at the NCAA Championships.
The Panthers posted a 14-1 record this season under Schwab's leadership, its most wins since the 1990-91 season. The program sent 10 athletes to Philadelphia for the NCAA Championships, which included a national runner-up finish by Parker Keckeisen at 184 pounds and a top-five placement by Cael Happel at 141 pounds.
UNI also claimed Big 12 titles in three different weight classes, which tied the program's best finish at the Conference Championship. Schwab led the Panthers to a hard-fought runner-up finish to Oklahoma State at the Big 12 Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Northern Iowa was tied with OSU entering the final match of the event, which saw Hendrickson defeat Arizona State's Cohlton Schultz to give the Cowboys the title.
Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year - Utah Valley's Terrell Barraclough
Barraclough excelled on and off the mat in his All-American season for the Wolverines. The Kaysville, Utah native finished fifth at the NCAA Championships in the 165-pound division. He reached 30 wins for the season and posted the second-best finish in program history at NCAA's.
Away from the mat, Barraclough maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average while pursuing his MBA from the prestigious Woodbury School of Business. He becomes the first Utah Valley student-athlete to win the Conference's top academic honor in wrestling, which was first awarded in 2013.

* The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 takes place in June and July
* FIFA will be looking in depth at key players from each of the 32 teams
* Our series begins with Manchester City's prolific No9
It will surprise no-one who has seen him play that Erling Haaland could have been an internationalhandball player, or an elite sprinter.
That awesome speed has instead been unleashed on football pitches and is seen, too, in the rapid rate at which goals have been scored - and records accrued.
Whether it's as the fastest player to score 50 Premier League goals, the quickest to 40 in the UEFA Champions League or the speediest to a century for any club in Europe's top five leagues, Haaland has raced his way through the shattering of benchmarks set by all-time greats.
It is true that the Norwegian will arrive at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025(TM) having never before competed at a senior global finals. Yet it was a FIFA tournament that introduced his scoring talents to a wider audience, when Haaland scored nine goals in a single match to top the scoring chart at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Erling Haaland at 18 | FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019(TM)
That ruthless one-man demolition of Honduras remains his most recent outing at a FIFA event, and the prospect of him picking up where he left off is one that no Club World Cup opponent can rule out.
Haaland factfile
Age: 24
Position: Striker
Nationality: Norwegian
Key attributes: Speed, strength and finishing ability
Outstanding achievements
Besides his UEFA Champions League winners medal and three top-flight titles, Haaland has collected, among other individual honours, the European Golden Shoe award, two Premier League Golden Boots, been crowned UEFA Men's Player of the Year and featured in this year's FIFA Men's World 11.
He is already Norway's all-time leading scorer, having taking just 41 appearances to reach the 40-goal mark. The existing record of 33, held by Jorgen Juve, had stood for 90 years.
Haaland also holds the record for most goals in a Premier League season: an astonishing 36 in 35 games in 2022/23. The City star scored six Premier League hat-tricks that season - as many as every other player in the division combined.
In 2023, he made history as the first and, to date, only man to be crowned the Premier League's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in the same season.
Haaland trivia
* Gareth Southgate admitted England looked into recruiting Haaland, who was eligible for the Three Lions having been born in the country during his father, Alf-Inge's time playing for Leeds United. The striker's response? "It was natural for me to choose Norway. I'm Norwegian and I'm proud of it."
* Haaland's sporting family extends beyond his father, a tenacious midfielder who won 34 caps for Norway. His mother, Gry Marita Braut, won national heptathlon titles during the 1990s, while his grandfather was a famed long-distance runner.
* Erling himself first made waves in the world of athletics at the age of just five, when he set a new world record for longest standing long jump by a five-year-old (1.63m). Eighteen years later, the record still stands.
* Ever heard of 'Flow Kingz'? During his days in Norway's U-17 team, Haaland recorded a song and music video under this name with team-mates Erik Botheim and Erik Tobias. YouTube views of the video for 'Kygo jo' - the trio's rap tribute to a Norwegian DJ - now stand at over 13 million!
Quotes
"He's the best striker in the world. The combination of being really physical, technical, with sensational awareness - his orientation on the pitch is exceptional, he knows always where the decisive gaps are, and he is barely offside - that package makes him special."
Former Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp
"I don't see him as human, honestly. When the games are tough you just look to him and think, 'When's he going to score for us?'"
Manchester City team-mate Phil Foden
"The numbers are ridiculous. He can compete in terms of goals with Ronaldo and Messi. He's an incredible threat for us and we're really happy to have him."
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola

Cartwheeling Keane sends Ireland crazy
As part of our FIFA World Cup celebrations series, we relive the moment Ireland's talismanic striker ignited a tumultuous campaign.
If ever a FIFA World Cup(TM) goal celebration reflected the unbridled ecstasy of a nation, then Robbie Keane's against Germany at Korea/Japan 2002 is perhaps the perfect example.
The Republic of Ireland's build-up to the tournament had been dominated by the dramatic turn of events which led to theirinspirational captain leaving the national team camp. Roy Keane's exit after a disagreement with the coaching staff made front and back-page headlines across the Emerald Isle, with supporters divided on where their sympathies lay.
The debate raged on even as they prepared for their opening game, but Ireland went some way to switching the discourse to matters on the pitch by delivering an impressive performance in a 1-1 draw with Cameroon. And by the time the Boys in Green took to the field against Germany in their next match, World Cup fever had firmly taken a grip both in Ireland and among the thousands of fans who had travelled to Japan.
As vibrant and vocal as that support was in the stands, it appeared as though they'd be leaving Kashima Soccer Stadium disappointed as the Irish trailed 1-0 as clock ticked into stoppage time.
Coach Mick McCarthy still had one Keane in his ranks, however, and he happened to be one of the finest strikers the country had ever produced. Robbie showcased his poise and class when he alighted on a flick-on from strike partner Niall Quinn, took a wonderful touch to escape his marker, then powered a finish past Oliver Kahn.
His celebrated with his trademark cartwheel and forward roll, before pumping his fists in front of the joyous Irish fans as he was mobbed by his team-mates.
"For me, and for the country, it was massive," Keane later told FIFA. "When you're playing on the streets, you're [imagining] playing in the World Cup. To score in the last minute against Germany is something that stands out for everybody. It couldn't have worked out better, with the Irish fans just behind the goal as well. I think they were there for two hours after the game singing!"
Ireland went on to beat Saudi Arabia in their next game to qualify for the Round of 16, where they suffered a penalty-shootout defeat to Spain. Despite that agonising exit, Keane's famous last-gasp strike - and a celebration which encapsulated the nation's euphoria - will remain the enduring memory from Ireland's rollercoaster World Cup campaign.
"It was certainly one of those moments that brought the whole country together," Keane added. "It was a fantastic tournament for Ireland. It's amazing what football can do for a country."

* The CBF will work on finding a replacement
Brazil have sacked Dorival Junior following a shattering 4-1 loss in Argentina in FIFA World Cup 26(TM) qualifying.
"The board thanks his professionalism and wisheshim success in his career," read a CBF statement. "From now on, the CBF will work on finding a replacement."
Dorival assumed the Brazil reins in January 2024 after Ramon Menezes and Fernando Diniz had help them on an interim basis. He oversaw just six victories in 14 games, during which time Brazil were dumped out of the CONMEBOL Copa America quarter-finals by Uruguay.
Tuesday's defeat at the Monumental - Brazil's worst loss to Argentina in over 60 years - left them fourth in South American qualifying, above Paraguay on goal difference and Colombia by a point. The top six reach the global finals automatically, while the seventh-placed finishers go into the Play-Off Tournament for the FIFA World Cup 26. Brazil are six points clear of Venezuela, who sit seventh.
Brazil have won a record five world titles, but haven't triumphed since Ronaldo and Rivaldo inspired them to glory at Korea/Japan 2002. They have fallen at the quarter-finals in four of the last five editions.

CB Chidobe Awuzie excited to be back in AFC North, thinks he's on 'right side' now with Ravens
After a year away, new Ravens cornerback Chidobe Awuzie is back in the AFC North.
It's exactly where he wants to be and, having switched uniforms to a former rival, with the team he feels has all the right pieces.
"I'm really excited," Awuzie said in a one-on-one interview with Garrett Downing on the team website. "I know this is some real dog-eat-dog world out here in this division. It'sreally last man standing type of football. You're gonna really fight and claw to see who's gonna win each game. It doesn't matter the person's record at the time. These games always come down to the wire. I'm excited to go against all these teams, and now being on this side of it, I think I'm on the right side."
Baltimore marks Awuzie's fourth NFL destination.
He began his career as a second-round pick of the Cowboys in the 2017 draft, spending four years in Dallas before experiencing three seasons as a Bengal.
It was in Cincinnati where he flashed the most versatility of his career, especially during a 2021 season in which he had 64 tackles, two interceptions, 14 passes defensed and four tackles for loss -- the latter three stats being career-highs. Awuzie also logged a playoff interception on Cincy's road to Super Bowl LVI, which the club lost to the Los Angeles Rams.
His play garnered a three-year, $36 million contract from the Tennessee Titans last offseason, but Awuzie saw the field for only eight games due to a groin injury and was released after just one season at the start of this year's free agency.
A few waves of signings later, Awuzie caught on with the Ravens.
"When I got released from the Titans, it took some time for me to really sit down and figure out what I wanted and where I wanted to go," he said. "The same questions I kept asking myself, the Ravens checked every box."
Baltimore also has some boxes it wants Awuzie to check, though, starting with helping to refortify the team's passing defense. Although the Ravens finished top-10 in the league in both points and yards allowed for a third consecutive time, much of that was thanks to a ferocious run D.
Their secondary was somewhat of a sieve; the group allowed 244.1 passing yards per game, second-worst in the NFL. Awuzie should factor in nicely trying to reverse that trend alongside defensive backs such as Marlon Humphrey and Kyle Hamilton.
"I'm fired up," Awuzie said. "You've got some dogs back there, people that I've watched on film. Me and Marlon (Humphrey) came in the same year actually, the draft class, so I've been really familiar with his game. Obviously, playing in Cincinnati when I did, seeing some of these guys, how they have progressed and how they make a lot of plays on the field.... I'm excited to be around that and feed off the energy."
The biggest impediment to him making his mark might just be staying healthy -- through eight seasons, he's logged a full slate of games only once.
The corner admitted there's "a lot of things to prove" on his new squad and said he's differed his training this offseason to maximize results.
Still hunting for a Super Bowl victory, it's all in the name of winning a ring.
"I've been there when I was on Cincinnati and we lost," Awuzie said. "So, that's definitely a personal goal of mine and something that I'm going to continue to chase as long as I'm in the league."
There's likely few NFL teams he could've sided with that will provide him a better chance.
